A weekend of firsts

So On Saturday 26th was the beginning of my race calendar. The Wartburg classic.

Bringing out the Morewood Kwela 2011 Gold Edition for its first race was quiet exciting. It was a premature start to the morning, therefore missing the long convoy of cars. The vibe was happening and I was ready to go.

The Start was fast , starting with a burn around the Wartburg high sports field ,leading into the smooth sugar cane roads. The front le pelaton moving strong and after the first climb spilt up, with a fight to stay ahead, big gears were the only answer. At the 20km mark the sun seemed to have turned up the heat, pulling up the le pelaton, trying to catch Murry Starr and Jeremy Thompson seemed to become just that much tougher, after catching them the heat was on between Murry and myself. After a few long climbs Murry Pulled through, being the stronger rider on the day and open a gap. In the pursuit back to the le pelaton, the strangest thing happened ... I greeted one of the locals in Zulu and after laughter filled response I found I had a second wind and dropped the hammer. But the gap had open up and I settled for a fourth in Junior Men. The result was quite good considering my misfortune on first Stages of Pneumonia  two weeks prier.

Well Done To Brendon Davids taking the win, Murry Starr second and  Callan Deacon for third.

Thanks to Roag  Mr Price & Cycle Lab for putting on a great event as expected. A special Thanks to my Great Sponsors Senqu outdoor wear , Ryders Eyewear , Rush sports and Morewood Bikes for your support.

Till next time
